What You Will Learn:
- Basic Techniques: Step-by-step demonstrations and explanation of techniques will be given throughout the day. Only 8 participants will be enrolled to ensure you get the best teaching experience.
- Use of natural Dyes and mordants: Gain experience using metal salts such as iron to enhance your print quality. Use natural dyes and dye/tannin carrier blankets to create beautiful background colours.
- Practical Tips: Gain insights to remove guesswork and ensure consistent and beautiful results with your botanical printing.
Workshop Schedule: November 1st and 2nd at the National Arboretum at Westonbirt, Saturday and Sunday 10-4pm
- Saturday: Create a table runner using raw silk or cotton satin. In the afternoon, exploring dyes and tannins for use in carrier blankets. Prepare a project (silk or linen) for completion on Sunday.
- Sunday: Continue the projects with dye and tannin blankets to add beautiful coloured backgrounds. Refine techniques, explore various printing approaches, and benefit from a show-and-tell session with workflow tips and tricks.
- Vegan-friendly options are available with plant-based textiles. Please inform me in advance if you require this.
Participant Success: The images shown are examples of work created by previous participants, many of whom had no prior experience with botanical printing.

Location: The stunning location of Westonbirt arboretum is in Gloucestershire on the A433 approximately 3 mi (4.8 km) southwest of Tetbury. GL8 8QS.
The detailed class notes will be sent to all participants nearer the time of the workshop.
Refund policy. If you need to cancel, contact me as soon as possible and I will try my very best to re-sell your place. If I can find a replacement, I will refund the workshop fee minus £20 admin fee. In the past, this has been successful. Bear in mind that It is unlikely I will be able to find a replacement if you cancel within a few days of the workshop taking place and no refund will be given.
